Margot Rijven's work treats the human being as a part of nature, as a coherent set of organic processes. The person is also depicted as an opponent, who exercises their influence upon nature. Organic processes are modified, to stagnate or to form themselves into new patterns. Inspired by tribal art Margot Rijven wishes to illustrate these processes through combining repeating forms and structures with human figures. The human being is depicted with a particular relationship to nature; as dominator, as partner, as subsidiary, as animal or as completely absent.
The artwork 'Transience' by Margot Rijven was selected for the Summer exhibition at the Gemeentemuseum in The Hague.
On display until the 20th of september 2015.
